Apologies to all for the lack of recent posting, law school will get in the way of such things. I will have much more to write in the near future on the Archdiocese of Boston. For now, I want to alert everyone to the efforts of the parishioners of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in Scituate MA to raise money to continue their fight to keep their church open. The parishioners have occupied the church for over 10 years, around the clock, in an attempt to prevent its doors from being closed permanently. The Boston Archdiocese has now won a judgement against them, to have them evicted from the church. The parishioners are trying to raise $25,000 through a Go Fund Me page to challenge this decision. As I’ve said previously, when I believe there is a Catholic church preservation-related cause worth supporting, I will pass along the information. This is one of those times. It is truly sad how the Archdiocese of Boston has from the start of its parish and church closure program gone down such a different path than that followed by the dioceses and archdioceses which have reached compromise agreements with parishioners that have allowed many churches to survive decades after their parishes have been closed. I can only pray that eventually the Archdiocese of Boston will one day follow suit, and aid those within the archdiocese who are at risk of losing their churches in any way I can until such a day arrives.
